The Body Content
The body content are the middle paragraphs that contains the
major chunk of the essay writing piece. These paragraphs explain the prime
purpose of the content in detail along with the use of examples that supports
the topic of your essay.
Typically, the first body paragraph comes as the strongest
as the powerful pointers in the argument are discussed with relevant examples,
unless some other introductory discussion is required, for example, chronological
explanations. The initial sentence of the paragraph should act as a topic
sentence that directly connects with the examples stated in the small outline
of the introductory text.
Also that a one-sentence body paragraph that just states the
example of ‘Martin Luther’ or ‘Nelson Mandela’ is not enough. A great essay

reader, who or what the example is about, and most importantly, the relevance

After that, the student needs to explain to the point why
this example justifies your essay. Although, this step is unfortunately most
often neglected, in fact it carries quite an importance—this is to explain the
entire reason of listing the example in the first place.

The first sentence, or the topic sentence of the body
paragraphs should incorporate a number of individual pointers to make it a good
read. Not only should the sentence act as a seamless transition for one idea to
the next, but should connect body every paragraph (in ideal cases). For example,
you can use ‘first’ in the initial body paragraph, consequently, ‘second’ in
the next one, or try variations such as “on the other hand”, and so on.
Never Get
Too General
Simply speaking, the example used should be strict to your
thesis and the explanatory and supporting details followed. It is quite a job
to congest the vast details of a given example within a few lines. So try to
get the best out of them as much as possible. Let’s again take the example of
Martin Luther King, if you want to describe why he was a great leader and a
role model to follow, obviously no one in their right mind would think about
researching and writing his childhood hobbies and leisure time activities in
the essay.
